Turning Over an Old Leaf
Eight years ago, when paleobotanists Edith and Tom Taylor and their team were last in the central Transantarctic Mountains searching for fossils, foul weather and mechanical difficulties with the helicopters kept them more often than not in the camp. In the field season just ended, the Taylors packed it in a couple of days early, hauling some 5,000 kilograms of rock back to the University of Kansas.
