It’s been nearly 80 years since Adm. Richard Byrd made his famous flight over the South Pole, enough time surely for all aviation firsts to be inked into the record book. But a U.S. Air Force crew out of McChord Air Force Base recently added to polar history when it landed in Antarctica using night-vision goggles.
