John Carlstrom has taken some pleasure from stirring up things around the South Pole this summer during construction of the South Pole Telescope. “This thing’s sitting out there and it’s erupting; it’s growing,” he said in December. “It’s going to be the largest thing out there. Everyone is [excited about it].”
