Ellen Mosley-Thompson helped pioneer ice core research beginning in the 1970s, when she and her colleague, Lonnie Thompson, discovered that dust particles could tell scientists much about past climate. At age 60, she’s planning her first ocean-going expedition to the Antarctic Peninsula.
