The South Pole Station’s Atmospheric Research Observatory is one of the key sites in the world for climatological data thanks to the extraordinarily clean air. The blue two-story building with funky, dark bubble windows is located about a half-kilometer from the main station in an area called, appropriately enough, the Clean Air Sector.
