At approximately 80 degrees south latitude and 119 degrees west longitude, Byrd Surface Camp has supported science in West Antarctica for more than 50 years, dating back to the International Geophysical Year. It has undergone many changes over the decades as it prepares to enter a new chapter of logistical support.
